Addressed to: 'Charles Baratty Temple London'. Durnford copies out and sends Baratty a letter from Houlditch requesting money from the trustees to pay the 'gentleman with the mortgage'. Durnford writes to Baratty concerning 'Edward's' entry as an Oppidan at Eton having declared for College but there being no guarantee. States 'The real truth is they admit all sorts to Eton and by allowing Candidates to enter very young even when they can scarcely write their own names.'
