In November 1930, as honorary attaché to the Duke of Gloucester, Thesiger attended the Abyssinian Emperor, Haile Selassie's coronation in Addis Ababa. These letters describe the event as well as the trip more generally which included a month of big game hunting in Danakil country with camels as transport.
