Autograph letters from Thesiger to his mother sent during his time with the Sudan political service. They describe his role as an assistant district commissioner in northern Darfur and his camel journey through the northern dessert. The file also includes autograph letters written to his brothers Roddy and Dermot as well as a typed report by Mark Leather, a young Bimbashi (lowest rank of the Sudan Defence Force) who accompanied Thesiger on a trek from the Western Arab Corps at Fasher to Jabal Maidob.
