Dermot Thesiger joined the RAF and in 1942, he was killed in a plane crash while piloting an operational flight off the east coast of England.

These files contain letters sent to Dermot’s mother and step-father during the Second World War describing his experiences. It also includes letters sent to Mrs Astley informing her that her son’s plane had crashed and he was missing, as well as news cutting concerning his death. The last envelope also contains a copy of the sermon preached by Rev. Prebendary Harrison, at the dedication of the memorial to Dermot Thesiger in the Parish Church, Clun.
