The files contain various official and unofficial papers relating to the expedition. It includes: Confirmation of his monetary grant for the journey, letters from S. Barton at the British Legation in Addis Ababa regarding the expedition, letters from the Royal Geographical Society; Thesiger’s reports, news cuttings; letters sent to his mother during the period and telegrams from Thesiger to his mother informing her of his safe arrival at various destinations.
It also includes: Receipts accumulated during the journey and a table plan and menu for the Royal Geographical Society’s Annual Dinner; news cutting relating to Thesiger’s account of his journey, which he gave to the Society in November 1934
