Bound notebook where Thesiger has added handwritten, day by day entries between 30 November 1949 and 4 March 1950. The entries cover his journey through Oman, and detail his route, along with technical geographical information of the landscape.
While the right-hand side of the page contains the diary entries, the left-hand side contains additional notes on the climate; local customs and sketched maps of particular areas.
The back of the notebook contains a list of the expenses incurred on the trip, the names of those he travelled with, as well as notes on the customs and local terminology. Enclosed in the back pages is a printed extract from a book about the Arabic language.
