The file contains a typescript version of the Introduction, the section on ‘The Arab World’, ‘Asia’ and ‘Africa’, as well as the captions for the photographs. The draft contains corrections in the hand of Lucinda McNeile, Thesiger’s editor at HarperCollins. The draft closely resembles that of the final text, however further corrections were made before it went to press.
