Content description
A photocopy of the complete corrected typescript for ‘My Kenya Days’ containing a number of alterations in Maitland’s hand. This is the only draft to have survived, and while further corrections were made, it closely resembles the final published edition, suggesting it was one of the final typescripts to be produced.
Also included in the box:
- Photocopy of an autograph letter from Frank Steele to Thesiger concerning the draft of the book he read and the corrections he made. Steele travelled with Thesiger in Kenya and helped correction the accuracy of their route.
- An autograph letter from Frank Steele to Alexander Maitland concerning some paragraphs he has written on the Petra journey in 1965. A photocopy of the paragraphs is attached to the letter.
