Content description
Consisting mainly of autograph letters from Montgomery to Henderson, with the occasional typed letter. The letters partly relate to official business, including a wartime letter from Montgomery confirming Henderson is travelling on duty on his behalf; and personal letters from Montgomery to Henderson thanking him for his help and friendship. The letters also talk about the Second World War and as well as Montgomery’s life after the war including his role as vice-president of the Football Association and the books on warfare that he was writing.
Also included are two Christmas cards Montgomery sent to the Henderson family, the order of service for Montgomery’s funeral at St George’s Chapel Windsor (1 April 1976) and the order of service for a memorial service for Montgomery at St Paul’s Cathedral (23 May 1976)
