The majority of the material is made up of correspondence from Douglas Busk to his wife Bridget; spanning four decades from before they were married, to Busk’s time with the diplomatic service. The papers also include letters from Annette Hemsley-Thompson to her daughter Bridget, correspondence to Bridget Busk’s father, WGM Thompson, sent during the Boer War, photographs of Lady Busk, passports, postcards and items relating to Busk’s membership of the Alpin Club.
The papers have been divided into three sub-series to reflect the original order of the items, letters from Douglas Busk to his wife; letters from A. Hemsley-Thompson to Bridget Busk; and additional correspondence and personal items relating to the Busk family.
