Content description
The file contains copies of letters from Praed to his wife Helen both before and after their marriage as well as typed copies of Helen’s letters to him. The dated between 1832 and 1837
Provenance
It is thought that the letters were typed by, or given to, Derek Hudson during his research for his biography of Praed and copies given to Eton College after the work was published. Hudson makes reference to the letter on page ix of the Preface to the biography
Existence and location of originals
In 1937 the original letters were owned by Duchess Meralda di Melito, Praed’s granddaughter and they are still believed to be in the family’s possession
