In 1909, Vernon was honoured with a Gold Medal by Queen Margarita, Queen consort of the Kingdom of Italy, after Vernon dedicated the last of his works on Dante to her.
The file includes, the medal, a photograph of the medal and a description of why it was presented to him, an autograph letter from William Warren Vernon to a Mr Broadbent, enclosing the medal, as well as two typed letters in Italian.
