The volume contains the names and addresses of the many acquaintances of Grizel Hartley, which she added to over the years. Loosely enclosed in the volume are a number of change of address cards, or notes with addresses or telephone numbers.
Provenance
The volume was acquired by James Tindley through his father-in-law, John Pickards, who had been a master at Eton and was a friend of Grizel Hartley. A letter from Tindley to Michael Meredith, explaining the provenance and gifting the item to Eton College Library, is kept with the volume.
