Harold Caccia was appointed director of Standard Telephones and Cables in 1965, after his retirement from the Foreign Office. In 1968, he was elected Chair, a post he held until 1979, when he became Chair of the new International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation (ITT). He retired from the ITT board in 1981.
