Content description
The autograph letters are addressed to his mother and cover a holiday in Arles, and his subsequent trip to Paris. The letters make reference to the poetry he was writing and give an insight into his excessive lifestyle. They make reference to the ‘Bright Young People’ and the other members of this set, as well as the financial straits that it brought about.
The letters also cover his time in Obergurgl at the beginning of 1931 and subsequent trips to Yugoslavia; Bavaria, where he describes the changing situation in Germany; and Toulon, which contains details of his friendship with Nancy Cunard who was in France at the same time.
