The memorial was erected in Bishopsbourne in Kent where the writer lived in "Oswalds". The house is now called "Conrad Hall" in his honour. Walter Henry Trelawny Gwatkin, who was rector at Bishopsbourne at the time, and Frances Lilian Ashton were present at the unveiling.

The pictures were collected by Lilian Ashton and also includes postcards of Conrad and of his house and a framed photograph of Joseph Conrad taken in 1924 with an autograph note to Canon and Mrs Ashton-Gwatkin (dated 20 January 1925)
