The file contains autograph and typed letters from Benson, who was Ashton-Gwatkin’s godfather and housemaster at Eton College until 1903 when Benson left. Included is a typed letter from when Benson left Eton and a number of shorts notes to keep up to date with Ashton-Gwatkin's progress at Eton and Oxford and afterwards with his role in the Foreign Office.
