This series contains the working notebooks and papers relating to 'The Story of English’ which was produced as a TV series, radio series and published companion book. It contains notebooks, typescripts and television and radio scripts for the series, working papers for the book as well as correspondence and research material relating to the project as a whole.

The files are arranged according to the episode and corresponding chapter, with papers relating to each interfiled. Materials from later tranches have been added to the series, not integrated with previous catalogued papers.
