Robert McCrum archive: 'Shakespeare’
File
1989-1999
1 box containing 3 folders
Working papers for a Shakespeare project McCrum undertook with the BBC. The project consisted of a documentary feature written by Robert McCrum. The idea was first proposed in 1989, but turned down. It was subsequently revived between 1992 and 1994, and again between 1997 and 1999, where the idea was put forward to Channel 4, but it appears to have never to put into production. The papers include correspondence, research papers and notes including news cutting relating to Shakespeare and photocopies of secondary literature – including a complete photocopy of ‘The Man Shakespeare and his Tragic Life Story’ by Frank Harris (1909).
The file have been arranged by McCrum according to each proposal, and this original order has been maintained
