Correspondence and related papers assembled by Robert McCrum on an annual basis. The roughly annual correspondence files maintained, were marked by McCrum as personal, and while they contain a certain amount of personal papers, particularly correspondence relating to his family and friends, they are principally made up of miscellaneous papers relating to his literary, publishing and journalistic work. They include some drafts and copies of replies to letters, photographs, some literary drafts, drafts of speeches, press cuttings, some articles, reviews and a variety of other related papers

The papers in this series overlap with MS 678 01: Working papers for literary work’ and MS 678 02: Working papers for journalistic work, MS 678 04 : Papers relating to publishing and the book trade and MS 678 05: Photographs

Arranged into roughly chronological ranges where possible, but McCrum's original order has been respected in the envelopes and boxes in which they were originally kept
