Typed letters from Bayfield to Merchant, mainly concerning the mutual help they gave each other in their religious writings. Copies of some of Merchant’s replies to Bayfield are also included.
Major subjects of the correspondence include:
Bayfield sending Merchant a copy of a chapter he was contributing to a book being produced by a Jewish-Christian dialogue group. A copy of the chapter entitled ‘Making Theological Space’ is included in the file, as well as related news cuttings. Also included is a photocopy of Merchant reply after reading the chapter, where he makes various comments and suggestions.
An article Merchant wrote for MANNA (The Journal of the Manor House Centre for Judaism) entitled ‘As Other See Us’ a manuscript copy of which is included in the file
Reaction to Bayfield’s reading of Merchant’s manuscript for ‘Jeshua’ as well as a copy of MANNA with an unfavourable review of ‘Jeshua’ by Marcus Braybrooke and letters concerning Merchant’s reaction
