Containing letters, postcards, and photographs from Herman to Merchant.
Subjects of the early letters include Herman’s undertaking of a painting of King Lear commissioned by Merchant as well as general discussion over Herman’s work and that of Merchant’s. The later letters increasingly discuss Merchant’s sculptures and Herman’s own exhibitions.
Included amongst the letters are private view invitations to Herman’s exhibitions, cards featuring Herman’s artwork and several carbon copies of Merchant’s letters to Herman.
One envelope contains undated letters
