The short 5-minute programme featuring one painting. Merchant presented a number of editions of the programme, talking about Breughel’s ‘Adoration of the Kings’; Bellini’s ‘Christ and the Blessed Virgin’; ‘The Wilton Diptych’; El Greco’s ‘Christ and the Temple Traders’; and Giorgione’s ‘Adoration of the Kings’.
The file includes typed correspondence between Merchant and Peter Ferres from the BBC about Merchant’s involvement, including carbon copies of some of Merchant’s replies, typescripts, and a manuscript draft of Merchant’s scripts for the series, including images of the paintings he was discussing.
Also included are newspaper cuttings with the TV listings for the programme.
