Two envelopes of letters sent to Raef Payne or which relate to him. The letters include those from his Aunt May written to Payne when he was a King’s Scholar at Eton College; letters sent to John Holmstrom from [Payne?]; and letters of thanks written to Raef Payne while he was house master at Eton, which include letters from many Old Etonians who dined with Payne or attended parties he held.
The file also includes:
A playbill for an Eton production of Shakespeare’s ‘King Henry the Fourth Part One’ (performed 15 November 1947) with Payne playing Falstaff. Signed by Payne and other members of the cast
A photocopy of a typed address Payne gave at the funeral of Wilfrid Blunt in 1987
Typed list of leavers’ tributes to Payne given when he left Eton College
A photocopy of an obituary for Payne
The file also includes:
