Moulton-Barrett archive: Papers of the wider Moulton-Barrett family
File
1772-1942
4 boxes
Four boxes of family papers. Three are ordered chronologically. These mostly consist of letters but there are also some business papers and personal documents such as wills and inventories. There are letters to/from Edward Barrett (1734-1798), George Goodin Barrett (1761-1795), Judith Barrett, Samuel Moulton-Barrett (1787-), Elizabeth Moulton, Elizabeth Barrett Williams and other members of the Moulton and Barrett families. Each document is catalogued individually in the card catalogue that accompanies this archive (searchable by both date and person involved). The third box also contains papers relating to George Goodin Moulton Barrett and the Duke of Kent, and some miscellaneous letters.
The box labelled 'St Winifreds' is not ordered chronologically. It contains a scrapbook compiled by an unidentified member of the Moulton-Barrett family, copies of correspondence between the Duke of Kent and Captain George Goodin Barrett, of the 14th Regiment of Dragoons (-1854), letters and newspaper cuttings regarding G. G. Barrett's 1818 duel with Prevot (including autograph letters from Mr Yonge to Barrett), a photograph of G. G. Barrett and a printed index of Altham letters from 1618 to 1716.
