Box 1 (previously labelled 'Q1') contains papers from 1774 to 1841. These papers include legal documents, newspaper cuttings, accounts of annual crops and produce profits from the plantations, handwritten lists of slaves (with names, ages, occupations and physical health evaluations), wills, valuations, account papers, compensation certificates, ledgers, contracts, inventories of personal possessions and handwritten lists of the houses and cottages on each estate.
