Papers of Edward Moulton-Barrett relating to his inheritance of the Barrett family Jamaica estates of his grandfather Edward Barrett (1734-1798) in 1799. His grandfather was one of the island’s wealthiest and most influential planters, determined to preserve his plantation ‘empire’ and his family name. The papers relate to granting of a licence to the add the surname Barrett to Moulton-Barrett to allow Edward and his brother Samuel to inherit the Barrett estates from their grandfather Edward Barrett and also to the grant of arms to Edward Moulton-Barrett
