Papers of Samuel Moulton-Barrett, brother of Edward Moulton-Barrett, while in Jamaica, overseeing his family’s estates, from 1827 to 1837, including letters received and copies of letters sent relating to business and family matters; also, two letters to Samuel Barrett as MP for Carlton, Yorkshire, before he resigned his seat and went to Jamaica

File created by merging MS 681/02 01 Q1 (partial, 1822-1836) with MS 681/01/03 Papers of the wider family #2 file (partial) and Q2 and MS 681/01/03, 1823-1836) papers of wider family #3. These papers were almost certainly returned to Edward Moulton-Barrett after the death of his brother Samuel in December 1837. Papers of his brother Sam and his son Sam, in relation to their acting as agents of Edward, overseeing the family’s estates, have been incorporated into Edward’s series as a sub-file to respect provenance, context and improve clarity.
