The papers comprise Edward Moulton Barrett’s letters received and copies of letters he sent and accounting and legal documents relating to the running of his estates in Jamaica; letter from Rev Hope Masterton Waddell on death of his son Samuel Moulton-Barrett, Feb 1840; lists of houses and occupants, families, extents and yielding of Cinnamon Hill, Cornwall, Oxford and Cambridge estates; correspondence with former enslaved persons on estates; estate duty of his brother Samuel Moulton-Barrett (d.1837); and papers relating to Edward Moulton-Barrett’s business, legal and local affairs in England
Arrangement
Some of these papers were almost certainly returned to Edward Moulton-Barrett after the death of his son Samuel in February 1840.
