Content description
Papers relating to Vincent Baddeley and his gift to Eton College Library. The file includes a handwritten inventory of the donated material, a more detailed description of 'The practice of piety' that belonged to Elizabeth Perthebridge and was passed through the Browning family, a reprint of an article by Baddeley entitled "The Ancestry of Robert Browning, The Poet" (1937), a handwritten family tree and a cabinet card photograph of Robert Browning by the London Stereoscopic Company.
Provenance
Vincent Baddeley was an indirect descendant of Robert Browning. He presented a gift to Eton College Library of books that belonged to the Browning family, several miniature photographs, the seal of Robert Browning's father and a small amount of accompanying printed material. The inventory of his donation forms part of these papers. The books that belonged to the Brownings have the shelfmarks Ky.7.01, Ky.7.02, Ky.7.03 and Ky.7.04.
