The letters discuss the death of Robert Browning, the works of Thomas Gray and Thomas Browne, Coleridge’s opinion of Elizabeth Barrett Browning and her opinion on Shakespeare.
Also included are fragments of two letters dated November 1891, which have been deliberately torn up.
The letter dated 14 September 1891 contains a manuscript of the poem with the first line 'HEr face, for utter stillness, hath no feel'.
