Content description
Knipper-Tchekower was involved in the Moscow Arts and the postcard refers to Craig’s book on Ellen Terry and includes a signed photograph from her to Craig performing in ‘The Government Inspector’, c.1911 and a signed postcard of her as Gertrude in the Moscow Arts Theatre production o Hamlet in 1921. Also included is a photograph of Edward Gordon Craig and other members of the Moscow Arts Theatre (including Knipper-Tchekower), annotated on the back by Edward A. Craig and a typescript copy of a letter from Craig to Knipper-Tchekower (then known as Temple) discussing the theatre. Laurence Senelick made this typescript from the original in the Bibliothèque Nationale.
