Annie Lanham was Nathaniel Sparks Snr.'s wife, and the mother of James and Nat Sparks. She attended teacher training classes at Salisbury Training College with Mary Hardy (Hardy's sister). She went on to become a school teacher and saw her two sons begin their artistic careers before she died in 1907.
