Five watercolours by Nat Sparks, two of which are undated. The collection includes a watercolour of Hardy's birthplace, painted when the Hardy family were still in residence, and Talbothays - the home of Henry and Kate Hardy. 1. St. Stephen's, Walbrook, c.1920 (later acquisition) 2. Talbothays, 1939-1940 3. Mrs Mallet's Cider House, ?1940 4. The Hardy Cottage, Higher Bockhampton, [undated] 5. The Hand Cottage, [undated]

Provenance

Four of the watercolours are part of the original Sparks archive acquired by ECL from Celia Barclay. The watercolour of St Stephen's, Walbrook, was a later purchase (2002) as it complemented the other material in the collection.
