John Lloyd, nicknamed 'The Widow' possibly on account of a shaving advertisement, was Wyndham Lloyd's brother and an acquaintance of Anthony Powell. He was educated at Winchester College and Trinity College, Oxford, where he was a member of the Hypocrites Club along with individuals like Harold Acton and Anthony Powell. He later became Mayor of Montgomery, Wales, Secretary to Countil for the Preservation of Rural Wales and a member and chairman of the Ancient Monuments Board for Wales. He was awarded an OBE and was the author of several Welsh guides and handbooks.

A comprehensive collection of postcards from John 'The Widow' Lloyd to his brother Wyndham Lloyd, from the 1920s through to the 1970s. There are also postcards that John Lloyd wrote jointly with others, and a couple of undated postcards.
