Lionel Tennyson was the son of Hallam Tennyson and the grandson of Alfred Tennyson, poet. He survived WW1 and is principally known as a cricketer who captained England. He often travelled to South Africa, the West Indies etc for test matches.

Content description
1) Fourteen photographs of or taken by Lionel Tennyson. There are eleven photographs of Mossel Bay, South Africa, with annotations on versos. The scenes include plucking ostriches, "native women" outside their huts and the war memorial in the town hall. There are also three photographs of Lionel Tennyson at different ages: in his military uniform, as a young man and as a middle aged man standing on a high ridge. These aren't annotated.
