Papers relating to his Freelance column for the Times Literary Supplement
The box includes corrected page proofs, corrected typescripts, the occasional autograph manuscript and letters relating to the column between 1988 and 2013. Most edition of his column appears to be represented. The early edition contains more early versions of the columns which were reworked until right, whereas the later editions are more formulaic.
The first box include drafts of articles which were included in the published collection and those which were omitted. Also includes a number of cuttings from the TLS of articles written by himself and others

The papers were originally all kept together, but have been rehoused in separate files for preservation purposes.
The files were arranged broadly in chronological order by Williams and this order has been maintained
