The autograph war diary, created by Geoffrey Loyd during the First World War and is in two parts. The first part is written partly on loose paper and partly within a field message book
Part I is split into two sections, the first covering the period 13 August 1914-12 September 1914, while the second covers the period 13 Septmeber-26 September 1914
Part II covers the period 27 September to 15 October 1914 and is again split into two sections, the first written on loose paper, with the second within a brown Army correspondence book.
With the book the diary entry includes hand drawn maps and loosely inserted are several ‘messages and signal’ slips
Kept with the diary are two transcripts of the diary. The first is a typescript transcript made by A.K. Loyd’s private secretary during the war (pre-1921) and the second is a word-processed transcript created in 1933. A digitised PDF file of the 1993 transcript saved on a USB memory stick, has also been added here, the digital file been transferred to ECL Digital Image Collection
