Description

Classical, vase shaped wine cooler

Comments

This wine cooler was presented to Eton Head Master
Dr John Keate (1773–1852) on his retirement in 1834, following
25 years of service.

In 1947, it was presented back to the College in memory of
Lieut-Colonel Edward des Graz of the Rifle Brigade (who died in Libya on 6 June 1942) by his widow, mother and brother.

The Neoclassical design is typical of the work of Paul Storr, one of the most celebrated silversmiths of the early 19th century.
