Lionel Lawson, the son of Mr and Mrs Frank Lawson of Hyde Park Gardens and a second cousin of Sir Edward Lawson, was just 14 years of age when he died in a fire at Eton, in 1903. In memory of their son, Mr and Mrs Lawson funded the new wing added to the college's Natural History Museum by 1907.
