The swirling effects of air and water are at their most dramatic. A study for the woman and child seated by the mill, The Sewing Lesson, signed and dated 1842, is in the Mellon Collection, B.1975.4.1172. William first exhibited this subject at the RWS, 1846, acquired by Mr Hobson.
