Comments
'Son of Sir William Young, first baronet, Lieutenant-Governor of Dominica, and his second wife, Elizabeth Taylor, daughter of the Secretary of the Royal Society, Brook Taylor. At Oxford he is said to have shown considerable intellectual promise. In 1772 he travelled extensively in Italy and later published an account of his travels. Eton College Library possesses what is probably Young's own copy of this book, with manuscript changes.

Young served as a Member of Parliament for St. Mawes from 1784 until 1806 and for Buckinghamshire from 1806 until 1807. He was then made Govenor of Tobago, where he died.
Young was a prolific author. He wrote on the history of Athens, the corn trade (by way of a commentary on Adam Smith), the abolition slavery and the life of his grandfather, Brook Taylor. He also edited travel books and published a volume of verse in Barbados.'
Sitter was at Eton 1758-1768;
Later 2nd Baronet and Governor of Tobago.
