Sub-series

The boy’s files show the role of the housemaster towards the domestic and the academic life of the boys. Including letters to parents following academic reports or disciplinary action, where he often considers the mental wellbeing of the students and offers advice. Central to the files in the desire for the boys to achieve well academically and get into their university of choice, often Oxford or Cambridge, but with many considering universities in the USA.
Most files range from correspondence concerning early registration of boys on their birth and subsequent letters confirming their place to reference requests from prospective employers and wedding invitations. In some cases registry papers and exam certificates from the Oxford and Cambridge Board are included. Comprehensive selection of records including those who stayed at Eton for less than a year and a foreign exchange student and they are arranged in alphabetical order.
