Gavin Devonald Roynon (1936-2018) joined the staff at Eton in 1960, teaching Modern Languages, as well as History and Divinity. He was House Master of Hodgson House, 1974, Angelo's 1975-1997. He acted as Careers Master, establishing the Careers Room and the first Careers Convention. A keen cricketer, he ran the XXII and was a member of the Home Park team. In addition, he ran school squash for 16 years, leading overseas tours. In retirement he published a number of books on WW1.
