Administrative / Biographical history
Founded in October 1905 `to collect the prominent mathematicians of the School'. The guiding light was the master H.K. Marsden, who served as the first secretary. The society did not flourish. No meetings were held in 1906 `owing to the paucity of Etonian mathematicians', and although a new member was elected in 1907, the next entry records the dissolution of the Society in October 1908. The Scientific Society acquired the minute book and used it when their existing book was full. It has therefore been listed with their records (SCH/SOC/SC/1/2)
