File contains reports into incidents that did or had the potential to cause injury to people or damage to property (mainly boats). Primarily incidence concern Eton boys racing boats and colliding, causing injury and damage. Also reports on capsizes and collisions, (‘Lady Victoria’ and sculler, Windsor Rail Bridge) and common Eton traditions, e.g. the Bumping IV Race. Incidents would be discussed by a sub-committee and a report produced. File contains maps, diagrams, photographs of damaged boats and The River Master also kept newspaper clippings of fatal or nearly fatal water related incidents from other schools.
Conditions of access and use area
Amateur Rowing association, accident report form for incidents. Correspondence with the Thames rowing council to inform of incidents on the river. Notices of revised ARA safety code, including lifejacket regulations and first aid training and kits to be essential.
