COLL LIV 05
Cogges, Oxfordshire
Series
A farm of the alien priory of Cogges, a cell of the Abbey of Fecamp, was granted to the College in 1441. The priory had provided a priest for the parish and Eton continued to do so. The living was a perpetual curacy, with no endowment until 1695, although in the 19th century the incumbent was usually known as the vicar. In 1884 the right to nominate to the curacy was conveyed to Rev. James Payne for £300
