Last illness of Provost Davies; writer and Dr Roberts executors; details of legacies including epergne to the College; buried on 11 December in Ante-Chapel; copy of Spencer Percival's letter informing Goodall that he was nominated Provost and expecting that like his predecessor he would resign his canonry at Windsor; letter to College nearly not sent before statutable time of election expired; Lord Wellesley, Lord Grenville and Mr Puller leave their portraits, Mr Canning exchanges his; The Lodge is a good house but much must be done to it; a most beautiful portrait by Lawrence arrived yesterday. Must now retrench superfluous expense. Keate to be Head Master, and Thackeray or Carter Lower Master. Dated 3 December at end, but postmark 20 or 30 December.
