Provost Goodall: Letter to William Goodall

His brother's account at Coutt's bank. Bad attack of gravel on the way to London. 'Nothing can be more wretched than the state of poor England; rejoices at the 'discomfiture' of the [Reform] Bill but afraid its replacement will be worse. Does not see how an administration can be formed; fears that Lord Grey will be asked to resume the government; saw several Tory peers who despaired of rallying any power to 'resist the machinations of the evil minded'. Only a union of talent and a strong measure of reform can save the nation. Will attend the Eton Anniversary next Saturday. Coins. PLACE: [Bath]
