Congratulations on birth of a grand-daughter. Attendance at Prince George's confirmation [George Duke of Cambridge] very tiring. Describes party at Windsor Castle; dinner and procession of Knights of the Garter; election of Prince George and of his cousin George of Cumberland. Has 'ripped' the Captain [John Henry Kirwan] on the death of William Rennell, Senior Fellow of King's. Reason to think that Windsor chapter will be free from the interdict that has affected Westminster and Canterbury; has been told that Lord Augustus has been appointed. PLACE: The Lodge, Eton College
